AGES 7+

Join Jessica and Magen for a musical adventure this year!  Both are lifelong musicians who want our students to get excited about music!  

 

We will learn basic music theory like:

-rhythm and beat using thunder sticks and household objects

-scales and the basics of reading music on a staff

-difference between major and minor chords 

 

We will apply all of this knowledge in order to learn how to play the ukulele.  We hope to accomplish:

-different types of strumming and picking 

-how to read a chord chart 

-chord progressions

-changing between chords 

 

We will put all of our knowledge together to learn group songs that we can perform at the end of the year party.  

 

This class is listed as all ages, and it really is for everyone.  Since Magen and Jessica are both musicians, we can easily split the class when there are some students that are learning a lot faster than others and are ready to move on to harder things.  We can be accommodating to all levels and hope to have a variety of ages enrolled!

 

Required skills: Students can have any level of music experience. It's great if your child already reads music, but not necessary. We can build off the knowledge they already have or start from the very beginning. Students should be able to listen and follow directions. 

 

Homework: A little bit of practicing the instrument at home

 

Lecture time: 10-15 minutes 

 

Is fall semester required for spring semester?  YES

 

Special supplies parents provide: Must purchase your own ukulele with case.  We will give recommendations on products to purchase.  These are usually in the $30-$40 range.
