NATURE JOURNALING
with MELISSA ARNOLD & KRISTI LUCERO

AGES 7-10

In Nature Journaling, we will spend the semester venturing out into our surroundings, observing nature around us, and journaling our experience.

The paths and areas around the ASHC area offer great exposure to nature. We will stay primarily on the paths focusing on different areas with varying flora. Upon finding a space, we will gather and gain understanding of ways we can observe nature. Following varying sensory prompts, the students will make a journal entry for the day, being encouraged to use and develop their investigative minds. Each journal entry will be photocopied and returned to the student. We will compose a portfolio of the journal entries, showcasing the students' observations throughout the semester.

Skills required: The ability to listen and follow instruction. Writing will be done, but students have the option to dictate to a teacher who can write for them. This class will be taught on the trail.

Homework: Homework will not be given. If a student does not finish journal entry during class time allotted, they may finish at home.

Lecture time: 5 -10 minutes
