OUTDOOR SKILLS

AGES 10-12

In Outdoor Skills you will learn how to survive in the wilderness, using traditional techniques used by Native American peoples. You will learn how to secure food, water and shelter in any environment and how to comfortably survive a night in the wilderness if you become lost or are unable to return to civilization. You will learn to identify  edible and medicinal plants as well as how to construct a few simple hunting and fishing tools and traps. In short, this class is designed to prepare you for more comfort, confidence, respect and enjoyment in the great outdoors!

 

Skills required: no special requirements

 

Homework: optional or minimal

 

Lecture time: 15 minutes at most. Hopefully lecturing will be at a minimum in favor of a hands-on descriptive learning style.
