with NATASHA SITKO

AGES 13+

Spanish I is a High School level class in which the students will be learning not only the language but also focuses on goals that develop communication and cross-cultural understanding. The students will be using the program Auténtico (known before as Realidades) in the Savvas Realize platform. To become proficient in Spanish, students need to learn to understand and speak it in real-world situations. Students will learn about the language and culture of Spanish speaking countries as you read, watch, and listen to materials created for Spanish speakers. They will work on strategies that will help build their language skills and increase their confidence as they watch the videos, listen to audios, perform online activities, quizzes, test, oral and written presentations, communicative activities with other students, and much more.

This class will be very interactive and your effort and participation during class will play a big role in your learning experience.

We will use the 80/20 system while speaking Spanish. Some directions will be given in English but the majority of class directions will be given in Spanish.

**This class also has a required, 1-hour, online meeting on Mondays. The time is still to be decided, but possibly 9-10am or 9:30-10:30am**

Required skills: Students need to be able to read, write, use a computer and navigate a website, and speak in front of others. It is important for the students to know that at this language level, they are required to practice as much as possible to be able to acquire the language knowledge and pronunciation.

Homework will be posted in Discord every week.
