Selfie by Bradley Hayward:
It's senior year and problems are mounting for a group of high school students as they prepare for the future. Facing bullies, parents, pressure, sickness, and their own self-judgment, the characters search for ways to stand out. As they document their year, one click at a time, they come to realize life is not about what other people see -- it's about the pictures they have of themselves.
But We Don't by Alan Haehnel
A group of students ask themselves the simple question, "Why not do all the things we possibly could?" and soon find that the answer is anything but simple. An unconventional and intriguing exploration of desires and hesitations.
Playground by teen student, Aspen Keith
Playground is centered around a group of children who explore who they are and who they want to be through simple children's games and fairytale stories. It begins with the children casting themselves into their own make believe world. The hero, the damsel in distress, the villain etc. and the play ends with a knight that isn’t courageous, a princess who isn’t defenseless, and a dragon who isn’t ruthless. There are a few parents, who step in when things get heated and guide them through some life lessons.
This thought provoking one-act short is a story within a story and it touches on identity and social norms we experience even in early childhood.
