YOUNG THEATER
with JESSICA HAYNES

AGES 7-10

They call it a Play for a reason! Students are exposed to theater games, exercises, improv, and skits designed to free their imaginations, build self-confidence in front of an audience, and encourage collaborative play with peers.

Theater is an interactive, student-led environment. Appropriate for all personalities from shy reserved to energetically outgoing. I gently encourage everyone to explore outside their comfort zone with body movements, silliness, and fun!

We will perform a short skit at the End of Year Celebration.

Required skills: Students are sometimes asked to sit quietly for short periods of time as an audience member as they take turns performing improv and skits for each other.

This class can be difficult for children who are adverse to loud and energetic environments.

Homework: Students will be asked to memorize lines for the skit performed at the End of Year Celebration. Time involved outside of class greatly depends on the child's ability to memorize.

Lecture Time: Very little. Usually 1-3 minutes at a time throughout each class as I explain games, give feedback on skits, etc.

Special supplies parents provide: Possibly costume pieces for the skit performed at the End of Year Celebration
